RUSH: This also is an interesting story. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel from May of 2009. "Gov. Jim Doyle said Thursday..." We're coming up here basically on almost two years ago, May of 2009. Wisconsin "Gov. Jim Doyle said Thursday that the budget deficit has exploded to up to $6.5 billion -- a historic gap he wants fixed by laying off up to 1,100 employees, furloughing non-emergency workers eight days a year, rescinding 2% pay raises and making new cuts in aid to schools and local governments. Doyle said the $5 billion deficit he and lawmakers faced in March has soared because tax collections are running far below estimates." I wonder why. Could it be that recession? How's that hope and change working out for them there?

"The potential $6.5 billion gap will occur over a three-year period ending June 30, 2011." That deficit now is $3.6 billion, folks, in one year. "As many as 10,000 nonunion state workers, including University of Wisconsin faculty and academic staff, will not receive the 2% pay raise they had been scheduled to get in June... The state will ask union members to reopen contract negotiations to achieve a similar 2% in payroll savings, or about $36 million a year. If the unions don't negotiate the pay cut, about 400 workers would be laid off over the next two years." This is Wisconsin, Governor Doyle two years ago.

"A new cut of up to 5% will be made in state spending, which Doyle said will force the layoff of about 700 other workers. Deeper cuts from what Doyle proposed in February will be made in aid to public schools and local governments and on health care spending. The size of these new cuts won't be known until the Legislative Fiscal Bureau issues a report on state finances..." Now, let's get to the all important employee reaction. Well, again, this is from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel two years ago. The governor is a Democrat. It's a Democrat governor, asking for union givebacks or layoffs or firings or of what you.

"Union members realize they're not immune from bigger economic forces but would like to see private contractors who do business with the state to make similar concessions, said Bryan Kennedy, president of the American Federation of Teachers-Wisconsin. 'The state should assure that no contracting of work performed by state employees can take place while there is a hiring freeze or layoffs of state employees,' Kennedy said. Pocan, who leads the Joint Finance Committee with Sen. Mark Miller (D-Monona), called the crisis 'the economic version of a natural disaster.'"

Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Madison) "Pocan said lawmakers will look at other ways to fill the deeper budget hole." That's all you can find here on the union reaction. (paraphrased) "Okay, well, fine. We know we're not immune from these bigger economic forces. We'd like to see some similar cuts in the private sector," but that was the extent of it. So the previous Wisconsin governor Jim Doyle proposes layoffs, furloughs, and pay raise rescission to close the budget gap and all he got in return from the union was, "Union members realize they're not immune from bigger economic forces but would like to see private contractors who do business with the state to make similar concessions," and the Democrats did not get so the short bus and leave town.

Here it is: Representative Mark "Pocan, who leads the Joint Finance Committee with Sen. Mark Miller (D-Monona), called the crisis 'the economic version of a natural disaster.'" Two Democrats. So they didn't split the scene. Democrats didn't take the bus and go home. They didn't cry about it. They didn't bring a bunch of protesters into town. They didn't shut down the schools. They didn't call Obama to bring in Organizing for America. They didn't go out and get SEIU or other union rent-a-mobs. They just said, "Okay, well, yeah, we understand. We understand." So when a Democrat governor attacks public sector employees, it's not a big deal. So you see, folks, this isn't really even about the union people.

It's not about the teachers. You got a Republican governor here. This deal here in Wisconsin as far as the ramifications for 2012, you know what? We better pray for Governor Walker and we better hope this guy means it when he says he's sticking to his guns here 'cause this is the battleground for 2012. This is going to determine going forward the relationship between governments and unions, states and so forth, how much power the unions are gonna have. This is gonna determine... What happened in Wisconsin is gonna determine whether states in this country go bankrupt or not. It's gonna determine whether pensions and health care funds remain solvent or not.

Because if this union power is not checked here, if it's not stopped here -- because of the economic version of a natural disaster. This is worse now than it was in 2009 when the Democrats in Wisconsin were saying, "It's just the economic version of a natural disaster," it's worse than that now. That's why I think this is crucially important what's happening to Wisconsin. "As goes Wisconsin will go the country, so goes the nation," and Obama's election. That's why Jonathan Karl said in that sound bite, "If Obama loses this state in 2012..." That's why Organizing for America is there, that's why the union thugs are being bussed in, that's why they're teaching them how to be nonviolent. Yes, they have to teach them how to be nonviolent. They do.

The Cost of Public Sector Benefits

This is why our Governor is passing this LAW. He knows the trouble that is coming but he also knows we are broke and it would be better to pass a law like this then have to lay off hundreds of public sector people because we can't afford to pay them. I had to give up ten hours a week which cost me about $5000.00 dollars a year. My husband had his wages cut by 17%, our health care ins. went up by $60.00 a month gas, food, heat etc. have all gone through the roof. If my family has to take a hit like this why not the Public Sector People who do not sell or manufacture anything and their exorbitant wages and benefits come out of my pocket. "PROFILING." If we want to be safe we need to look at all terror acts and all attempted acts then make a list of the nationalities, religion, and race. Then look for those who are most likely to be terrorists. That would not be profiling it would be common sense. We should also find out how many on the list had contacts with known terrorists in this country and also those abroad. I don't know why this should make us hate any ones religion or race. Have you ever been told you “can’t fight City Hall”? Alone I felt helpless, what could I do? Write to the local paper, call my representatives in Congress (they ignore those calls). Alone I could not “fight City Hall, then came the grassroots movement. I use the term grassroots because the term “Tea Party” explains why we did what we did, not who we are. I now realize that I am not one person I am part of “We the People” collective and together we have the power. However, we cannot rest on what we did in the past; we must listen to the Congress carefully, if we do not like what we hear we fight in the best tradition of this country with peaceful demonstrations and town hall meetings. Maybe pass a law forcing our representatives to meet with us at least a dozen times a year.

This brings me to Ron Kind and why I didn’t vote for him. At the town hall meeting in Tomah I saw hundreds of people plead and beg him not to sign Obamacare into law, I saw the helpless anger in those people as he told us to go to hell and voted for it anyway. Then ignorant people voted him back in office. Now we must watch and record his every vote, having his votes ready for the next election. We must educate those who voted for him about what he really stands for.

High Speed Train

How is the high speed rail going to help us in La Crosse County or any other county on this side of the state? Is it going to help our farmers? Will it help them buy new farm equipment? Will it raise the price of their milk and corn products, pay their exorbitant taxes? How about office workers, small business owners and those put out of work by the Federal Government etc. Will the high speed rail do anything for us at all? Why doesn’t the Federal Government just give the stimulus money to the State Governments and let them put the money where it is needed?

You do realize that the Federal Government’s insistence on the high speed railroad will mostly benefit the unions. What about me, what about you? Does every person in this state work for a union? Maybe I want my taxes to help me out (remember that we paid for the stimulus with our taxes).

The Federal Government is using your tax dollars to give union workers jobs and this might help the economy for a very short time but it will do nothing to bring down our state deficit. And in the long run what will it cost us to maintain this very costly enterprise? Call or write our Governor elect Scott Walker and our state representatives Dan Kapanke and Mike Huebsch (they will listen to us) and tell them to say no we don’t want this extra tax Burdon.

There is an ad on T.V. claiming that Dan Kapanke was a wild unrestrained spender while he was Chairman of French Island. The truth is the people of French Island wanted to be incorporated as a Village. Dan fought hard along with Mike Huebsch to fulfill the will of the people. I was there at those meetings as the people begged Dan to help them become what we already where a self-sustained Village. Dan never spent money without the people voting for it. Dan put month’s even years of his time and his money doing what we wanted and this is what I want from a representative someone who will fight for the people they represent.

I was at the town hall meeting in Tomah where hundreds of people begged and pleaded with Ron Kind not to sign the Obamacare bill. Did Ron Kind care what the people wanted? No he signed it anyway. This is what the people of Wisconsin want? A man, who does as he pleases, ignores the will of the people and smiles and laughs as he does it? Think people, do not repeat the mistakes of the past just because he has a nice smile, behind that smile is a very willful man who will not do as the people want but will do as he darn well pleases.

Vote for Dan Kapanke, I know for a fact he will listen to us because he did it for years as Chairman of French Island.

The two young people doing investigative reporting, which is what the news media used to do before they became government run organizations, are to be prosecuted for exposing the lawbreaking. Acorn has decided to take O'Keef and his partner to court because they exposed the corruption. They are also suing Fox News because they ran the story showing Acorn for who they really are. Lewis said ACORN will take legal action against FOX News and those involved in the making of the videos. She said ACORN offices were also targeted in San Diego, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and Philadelphia, among other places.

"I am appalled and angry," Lewis said. "I cannot and I will not defend the actions of the workers depicted in the video, who have since been terminated."

Taxes Going Up Again on September 1st

Beginning next month, virtually every Wisconsin taxpayer will send even more money to the state treasury.

A vast majority of the $3.1 billion state tax and fee hikes enacted by Democrat lawmakers took effect immediately after Governor Doyle signed the state budget in June. Exceptions included the second cigarette tax hike in less than two years and a new phone tax, both set to take effect on Tuesday.

Every telephone line in Wisconsin – wireless, landline, voice-over internet, and facsimile – means another $0.75 per month in the state coffers. If you pay for a wireless family plan with several separate phone numbers, each one will be taxed. Your home office line is taxed in addition to your personal line, and a fax machine means another monthly tax payment.

Small business owners who provide cellular phones and pagers to employees, in addition to the necessary landlines, are taxed again and again. Large employers, school districts and healthcare providers get a bit of a break after paying for 10 lines, but face hefty increases nonetheless. In all, the state will collect $107.6 million in less than two years.

The cigarette tax increases from $1.77 to $2.52 per pack, while taxes on smokeless tobacco products also go up. It means a $334.8 million tax increase during the current budget period which ends on June 30, 2011.

When Governor Doyle signed the 2009 state budget on June 30, his accompanying press release declared that “the budget does not raise taxes on middle class families.” It’s a bold statement, but completely indefensible. It is simply not true.

If the definition of “is” can be debated, I suppose anything can. But to argue that these aren’t taxes or that middle class families won’t pay them more than strains the governor’s credibility.

From the start, Governor Doyle and legislators tried to disguise the phone tax by labeling it a “fee” in the state budget bill. It’s officially titled the “police and fire protection fee” even though the dollars are not required to be spent on either of these public safety services.

Wisconsin residents pay many fees in exchange for specific government services. Hunting and fishing license fees pay for conservation programs and state park fees pay for the upkeep of those parks, among others.

In contrast, the $107.6 million collected from the phone tax is deposited in the state’s general fund along with income, sales and excise tax revenues. From there, the money is distributed to local governments through the existing Shared Revenue program.

Shared Revenue needed the cash infusion to fill a hole created by Governor Doyle and Democrat lawmakers who cut payments to local governments in order to send more money to Madison, Milwaukee and their own districts for special projects.

There are no limitations on how local governments can spend these dollars and, more importantly, no requirement that they pay for police and fire protection, despite the intentionally deceptive name of the “fee.”

Attempts by Governor Doyle and Democrats to trick taxpayers didn’t end there. They authorized telecommunications companies to roll the tax into the existing 911 fee currently printed on all phone bills. That fee was established to support 911 emergency services and, most recently, to finance upgrades so that dispatch centers could receive and track cellular 911 calls.

If phone companies take advantage of this option, the bill will show a “charge for funding countywide 911 systems and police and fire protection fee.” Democrats are banking on two things. First, that by combining the new tax with an existing fee, you won’t notice it. Second, that if you do notice the “fee” increase, you will assume it is funding 911 emergency services – services you benefit from as a phone user.

The cigarette and tobacco taxes are as straightforward as they come. They won’t affect every middle class family, but they will certainly affect a good number. The governor and supporters of the tax frame it as a strategy to stop people from smoking and say it’s not really about the money. If that were true, the tax increase would have been paired with a corresponding tax decrease so that taxpayers didn’t pay more, but of course it wasn’t.

These are just two examples of the hypocrisy of Madison Democrats who say middle class families aren’t paying new taxes. In May, I compiled a list of new fees and taxes Governor Doyle and Democrats have imposed on middle class families. In July, I shared a complete list of tax hikes in their final two-year spending plan. Take another look if you have a few minutes. The fact that the governor and the Democrats feel that there is no need for their words to match their deeds will likely make you as livid as it did me. As our twentieth president James Garfield once said, “the truth will set you free, but first it will make you miserable.”

Republican state Sen. Dan Kapanke (R) is strongly considering challenging seven-term Rep. Ron Kind (D).

Kapanke said in a phone interview last week that he is close to making an announcement about a Congressional bid.

“I’m more than thinking about it and I haven’t announced yet, but I’m very close,” Kapanke confirmed.

Kind has won re-election by hefty margins since first winning the seat with 52 percent in 1996.

Kapanke, who just won re-election to the state Senate in November, said he believed Kind was vulnerable and that he has come across “a groundswell of people who are concerned about what’s happening at the state level, as well as at the federal level” in the western Wisconsin district.

Kapanke has not met yet with the National Republican Congressional Committee. However, meetings with the committee and other GOP campaign officials are in the works.

America is now defined by the murder of their children. I said some time ago that if women continued to murder their innocent babies even before they are allowed to take their first breath they would began to kill their post-born children if they became a burden. This is now happening in greater and greater numbers. What defines America today? The right to murder the innocent. Democrats and their government stand for pro death. The slaughter of the innocent pre-born children, euthanasia of the elderly and sick, in the case of the sick they torture them to death by denying them food or drink, and they refuse to prosecute women who kill their post-born children as murderers. They have post partem depression and that gives them the right to torture their children to death by downing them, remember water boarding is torture so holding children under water until they die is torture. Men who murder their post born children are prosecuted as killers but their sentences are quite light.

Why do I say this? Because I have heard different comments from Republican liberals that the Republicans lost the election because they stand for life. Well I am sorry but the Right to Life is in the Declaration of Independence and true Americans believe in the right to life. So to all the people who believe in the murder of the innocent to heck with you, true Americans will always believe in the right to life. And if we have to be in the minority so be it. At least we stand behind the freedom to live that defines America.

Senator exits MILCON following Metro exposé, vet-care scandal
SEN. Dianne Feinstein has resigned from the Military Construction Appropriations subcommittee. As previously and extensively reviewed in these pages, Feinstein was chairperson and ranking member of MILCON for six years, during which time she had a conflict of interest due to her husband Richard C. Blum's ownership of two major defense contractors, who were awarded billions of dollars for military construction projects approved by Feinstein.
As MILCON leader, Feinstein relished the details of military construction, even micromanaging one project at the level of its sewer design. She regularly took junkets to military bases around the world to inspect construction projects, some of which were contracted to her husband's companies, Perini Corp. and URS Corp.
Perhaps she resigned from MILCON because she could not take the heat generated by Metro's expose of her ethics (which was partially funded by the Investigative Fund of the Nation Institute). Or was her work on the subcommittee finished because Blum divested ownership of his military construction and advanced weapons manufacturing firms in late 2005?
Oh, interesting twist. She didn't quit during the time she had a conflict of interest but after her conflict of interest was effectively over? How Bizarre.
Feinstein abandoned MILCON as her ethical problems were surfacing in the media, and as it was becoming clear that her subcommittee left grievously wounded veterans to rot while her family was profiting from the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. It turns out that Blum also holds large investments in companies that were selling medical equipment and supplies and real estate leases—often without the benefit of competitive bidding—to the Department of Veterans Affairs, even as the system of medical care for veterans collapsed on his wife's watch.
Who knows. Congress has a focus that is solely anti Bush and anti republican; so don't expect too many people to care. She will just walk away from this.

He also signed into law the right of the government to decide whether or not senior citizens will be allowed to have certain health procedures done based on how much longer they may live. A panel will be set up and if you are elderly and say you have cancer and you need chemotherapy or radiation therapy this panel can tell the Dr. that the procedure is too expensive for the amount of life you have left. As the life expectancy of a human runs around the ages of 68 to 78 and up the refusal for medical help can be denied starting around the age of 68. I call this the "euthanasia of the elderly by neglect".

Another law he past is that children live born who are found to have Downs Syndrome or some other birth defects or maybe just not wanted by the mother may be thrown in some back room and left to die without any human kindness or love. This is called a live abortion. What a sick perverted person is Obama. People who believe in "the murder of live born children by neglect" are nothing short of monsters. America has elected a monster who really does believe he is God and has the power of life or death over his subjects. America what have you done?

Rush is not the last man standing

Rush keeps saying he is the last man standing, well he may be. From what I can see Congress is killing America and I do not see huge rallies being conducted to rebel against the deliberate destruction of our economy. I do not see Republicans standing up and fighting against the rape of the people of America. Republicans seem to agree with what is happening by their passive acceptance of this rape.

But I want to stand up and say that I stand with Rush and what he says. His speech on Saturday was right on and his response to Michael Steele's comments Monday was a perfect description of what is happening with the Republican party and why I sent an e-mail to Mr. Steele asking him to remove my membership from the Republican Party. The Republican elected officials do not represent my belief system any longer. They are cowards of the highest standing and I no longer want to be represented by them. It will be hard since I have considered myself a Republican since 2000 and I have used the title "Republican" to explain who I am, but no longer. I will not stand with a brain dead party who will not lead a revolt against what Obama is doing to this country. If you want fairness then you must also include Magazines, Newspapers and T.V. and all other forms of public information on important issues. Your bill is poised to do one thing and that is to keep the public from knowing the truth of things and I can't believe that an American Congress person would try to keep other opinions from being voiced. Read about the Fairness Doctrine. It will soon be possible to shut down Conservative talk shows and the Obama regime has the power to do it. What has happened to this country? The bill is presented by Senator Debbie Stabenow D. Mich. who's husband has tried to get Liberal talk shows started on the radio but they fail because no one wants to hear them. Liberals get all the proper misinformation they need from T.V., newspapers, magazines also from liberal Hollywood but that isn't enough for Obama, he needs to see that his lies are not exposed and he can only be sure that no one realizes just how many lies he told during his candidacy except by stopping free radio. I guess that we will now need underground radio stations in order to keep exposing Obama for the liar he is. I never thought I would live in a country where the government would be able to take away your freedom to hear the truth.

Did you know that a Senator has also introduced a bill that would get rid of the 22nd Amendment which limits the term of the President to 8 years. Does this sound familiar? Isn't it amazing how one day after Fox news announces that all the newly found votes in Minnesota have been for Al Franken (the buffoon), two votes were found for Norm Coleman? Democrats really do think that Minnesotans are fools.

Three seats are needed to stop all checks and balances in the new Puppet King's dictatorship and there are fights in three states and all the votes mysteriously found are for Democrats. The courts are ruling in favor of the Democrats in every single case. Voter fraud is so rampant and the courts always rule in favor of the obvious fraud. This is cheating the voters of their votes and their right to rule this country and Minnesotans say Amen this is so good? Minnesota Judges Rule in Favor of Voter Fraud

One hundred thirty some ballots were found in the trunk of a car and were allowed to be counted in the election between Cole and Franken in Minnesota by a corrupt judge. Of course all votes were for Franken. In fact all rechecked ballots have been in Frankens favor. Surprise, surprise!!!! Why bother to see what the people want, if the judges favor a candidate they just rule voter fraud legal. Obama was elected by Minnie and Micky Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and other such cartoon characters along with 72 votes for each person voting for him, what a cheat. Talk about stealing elections this Chicago Thug and his mafia team didn't even have to bother with removing their opponent, the judges in Ohio and the other 20 states just allowed the cartoon characters votes and 72 votes each for all Obama voters.

Now they are doing the same thing for Franken. It seems the whole Democrat Party have the judges in their pockets and the whole bunch are dirty. Shame, shame.

Where has America Gone

I look at the last eight years with the best president we have had in many years and where was the "lets get along" crowd then? We finally had a president who got the job market down to 4 per cent, the stock market up to the second level in history and a president who had the courage to defend this country and never talked about how rotten we are and now we are going to get an appeaser, a man who hates this country and thinks that its people are the lowest people in the world, and you want me to "get along?, forget you.

This president elect is going to muzzle talk radio so we are no longer able to hear truth because it shows just how socialist Obama is going to be. We are in so much trouble if we are to be a free nation because the government now in power is very Russian in their belief system and unless you are a socialist government run news organization such as the "New York Times" you must be muzzled, what happened to the "freedom of speech"? Is the Constitution dead? We have seen the judges in this country change the Constitution to fit their belief system, it is no longer the criteria for laws in this country.

I hesitated to use the word "Black" in my title for fear of being called racist, well I hate to disappoint you but I have no problem with a black president or blacks in any position, skin color has never been my criteria for anything, all my disappointment is in the American people and the obvious affect the liberal state run school systems have in the indoctrination of our children into socialism and eventually into communism. I mourn the loss of freedom of religion, which is what our forefathers fought so hard for. I see the election last night as the beginning of the last days and there are so many people who are lost and soon it will be too late for them to find the truth. However, come Lord Jesus.

America is now a provable country of cowards willing to cut and run instead of standing up to the murderers of thousands of Americans. The Muslims have won and now we are a Muslim country because all laws will lead to the suppression of anything Christian, and Muslims will be lifted up as the religion of America and soon, as in England, Sharia law will be the law of the land.

I am putting this in my blog because it is the only place that I am allowed to voice my opinion and I will put more in my blog as the days go by because I know that in a very short time the Internet will be taken over by the government and freedom of speech will be a thing of the past.

Except for a few talk radio shows, which will be shut down through the "fairness doctrine" by the government, I will not listen to the destruction of America through the government controlled news media. Bitter, you bet, angry you bet and I will stay this way until Americans realize the terrible thing they did last night and go back to being a free country. The acorn fixed election with the backup of the corrupt judicial legal system have put a socialist president into power along with a socialist congress and America may never be free again.

I have just read an article in the La Crosse Tribune which says” Don’t judge Obama for the acts of others”. I cannot understand why people do not look at the past lives of the people they vote for. Your friends show what you believe. Not that many years ago a homegrown terrorist bombed his own people and seven people were murdered. The law protected the terrorist. Just because it is years later has anything changed? No the same seven people are dead and the terrorist brags that he should have killed more. Obama is this man and wife terrorist team’s friend and the letter writer thinks this has no connection with the president of the United States? Since 1979 over 2000 people lost their lives to terrorists and this country did nothing, in fact we have put home grown terrorists or home grown terrorist wannabes in charge of teaching our children to be terrorist, not very smart are we?

Then there is the Supreme Court backed Acorn voter fraud. Obama gave Acorn over 800,000 dollars to promote their Supreme Court backed voter fraud business. The writer thinks this is ok but so would I if the voter fraud would get my candidate elected. Obama can’t win without the fraudulent votes gathered by Acorn with the support of the Democrat leadership in Ohio and with the backing of the Supreme Court. I have just had a discussion with a friend who showed how easy it would be to vote twice. After a name change my friend can’t get a few companies to get the name change correct so my democrat friend gets bills in two different names. If my friend were dishonest it would be easy too present these bills as two different people. Thank goodness my friends, unlike Obama’s choice in friends, are honest.

The President of the United States of America is too important a position to trust to a man who surrounds himself with terrorists and even works to support them.

All of this information I found on-line. If you would like to check it out - Wikipedia, encyclopedia, Barack Obama, education, etc; Tony Rezko; Valerie Jarrett: Daily Times - Obama visited Pakistan in 1981; The Washington Times - September 7, 2008; The Times May 10, 2008. It's amazing what a good "google" will find you. I live about four miles from occidental College. What I found out is that around 1979 Obama started college at Occidental in California .. Today, he is very open about his two years at Occidental. He says that he tried all kinds of drugs and was wasting his time but, even though he had a brilliant mind, did not apply himself to his studies.
"Barry" (that was the name he used all his life) during this time had two roommates, Muhammad Hasan Chandoo and Wahid Hamid, both from Pakistan.
During the summer of 1981, after his second year in college, he made an very expensive "round the world" trip. Stopping to see his mother in Indonesia , next traveling to Hyderabad in India , then traveled to and stayed for three weeks in Karachi , Pakistan where he stayed with his roommate's family, then off to Africa to visit his father's family.
My question - Where did he get the money for this trip? I couldn't find this out??? Nether I, nor any one of my four children would have had money for a trip like this when they where in college. When he came back from Pakistan he started to school at Columbia University in New York . It is at this time he wants everyone to call him Barack - not Barry.
Do you know what the tuition is at Columbia ? It's not cheap, to say the least! Where did he get money for tuition? Student Loans? Maybe. After Columbia , he went to Chicago to work as a Community Organizer for $12,000. a year. Why Chicago ? Why not New York ? (He was already living in New York.)
By "chance," he met Antoin "Tony" Rezko, born in Aleppo Syria , and a real estate developer in Chicago . Rezko has been convicted of fraud and bribery this year. Rezko was named "Entrepreneur of the Decade" by the Arab-American Business and Professional Association".
About two years later, Obama entered Harvard Law School . Do you have any idea what tuition is for Harvard Law School ? Where did he get the money for Law School ? More student loans? After Law school, he went back to Chicago . Rezko offered him a job, which he turned down. But, he did take a job with Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland. Guess what? They represented "Rezar" which is Rezko's firm. Rezko was one of Obama's first major financial contributors when he ran for office in Chicago . In 2003, Rezko threw an early fundraiser for Obama which Chicago Tribune reporter David Mendelland claims was instrumental in providing Obama with "seed money" for his 1st country-region for the U.S. Senate race. I'd like to know more about those donors?
In 2005, Obama purchased a new home in Kenwoood District of Chicago for $1.65 million (less than asking price). With ALL those Student Loans -where did he get the money for the property? On the same day Rezko's wife, Rita, purchased the adjoining empty lot for full price. The London Times reported that Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi-born Billionaire loaned Rezko $3.5 million three weeks before Obama's new home was purchased. Obama met Nadhmi Auchi many times with Rezko.
Now, we have Obama running for President. Valerie Jarrett was Michele Obama's boss. She is now Obama's chief advisor and he does not make any major decisions without talking to her first. Where was Jarrett born? Ready for this? Shiraz, Iran! Do we see a pattern here? Or am I going crazy?
On May 10, 2008 The Times reported, Robert Malley advisor to Obama was "sacked" after the press found out he was having regular contacts with "Hamas", which controls Gaza and is connected with Iran . This past week, buried in the back part of the papers, Iraqi newspapers reported that during Obama's visit to Iraq , he asked their leaders to do nothing about the war until after he is elected, and he will "Take care of things".
Oh, and by the way, remember the college roommates that where born in Pakistan ? They are in charge of all those "small" Internet campaign contribution for Obama. Where is that money coming from? The poor and middle class in this country? Or could it be from the Middle East.....that's the skuttlebutt out there ?
Now the final bit of news. On September 7, 2008, The Washington Times posted a verbal slip that was made on "This Week" with George Stephanapoulos. Obama, on talking about his religion, said, "My Muslim faith". George helped him make the abrupt "change" to "Christian faith." When questioned later, he said "I made a mistake". Some mistake! I'm Baptist. I have never made a slip and said, "My Catholic faith."
Finally, the BIG QUESTION - If I found out all this information on my own, why haven't all of our "intelligent" members of the press been reporting this?

Ladies and Gentlemen, Take a look at how the people of La Crosse feel about Mr. Ron Kind now (click on link below). Mr. K said he would not represent his constituents because they were"angry." I'm a constituent and I am very angry about this. He doesn't care if we are angry - he's basically saying to you and I "tough luck to you buster. Your gonna pay and I'm not gonna listen to you. And, I'm gonna win again this November 4 and there's nothing you can do about it. Ha Ha." This is a matter of fact - to him at least; he is so secure in his reelection (in his mind) that he thumbs his nose at you and me and believes we will obediently reelected him in November. Are you going to let that happen? I'm doing everything in my power to prevent his staying in office. You know, it was just a few weeks ago that Mr. RK said that drilling for oil is a fraud perpetuated on the American people. How bogus is that? I wrote to the La X Tribune that RK was the fraud for not being straight with us about drilling. I was right. The man is a fraud and will not stand on his own convictions. He stands on Nancy Pelosi's convictions. Doesn't he know that WE are his boss, not that gal from San Fransisco? Obviously not. RK said we needed to spend our economic stimulus package money to buy energy efficient appliances and "spaghetti fluorescent light bulb" to save money - that was called his "spend green to save green initiative." Only a 12 year government employee would say you can save money by spending more! The 12 year incumbent from the great city of La Crosse just let down all of his constituents. This $700 billion "bailout" became an $850 billion pork laden boondoggle. This man told us that he was a "reformer" last spring and would fight pork. As you can hopefully see by now this man has no spine as he voted for the false bailout and the inclusion of $150 billion in Congressional pork. How much $$ did RK have in that bill? If we were in such a calamitous situation, why did they see fit to spend even more of our money? I know a lot of families who could use some $$ and $150 billion would go a long way. By the way, the "Armageddon Bailout Bill" was first a 3 page document at $700 billion. Now it is a 474 page document at $850 billion. Do you really believe that we have seen the end of this? This will become so large that we will never get out of it UNLESS, UNLESS he is replaced and we reverse this terrible decision with new representation in Western Wisconsin and throughout the country. I was in a parade today in Black River Falls and a liberal Democrat said they would never vote for me because I'm a conservative Republican. I asked if RK's $850 billion bailout would not change their mind, and they said, "Oh yeah, forget it, I'll vote for you." RK has shafted the people of Western Wisconsin and the people get it. HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!

Dear Republican Friends,

On July 4, 1776, 56 delegates of the Second Continental Congress gathered in a stuffy room in Philadelphia to make one of the most important decisions the world may ever know. 56 brave souls chose that day to forgo the comforts afforded them by staying loyal to a despotic, controlling regime and instead embark on a journey to liberty that would threaten all their lives but change the course of history forever. We celebrate Independence Day for the 232nd time this year still commemorating that faithful day and the bravery of the Founding Fathers whose stand for liberty yet echoes throughout our country.

The actual document of the Declaration of Independence was penned mostly by Thomas Jefferson. According to Jefferson, the purpose of the Declaration was “not to find out new principles, or new arguments, never before thought of . . . but to place before mankind the common sense of the subject, in terms so plain and firm as to command their assent, and to justify ourselves in the independent stand we are compelled to take.” As conservatives, we are wholly committed to defending the principles of liberty and resistance against government tyranny that the Founders laid out for us on the first Independence Day. We defend our freedom not with new principles or new arguments, but unapologetically with the same values and beliefs that have provided strength to our country and our greatest leaders throughout our history. A faith in God and country, in the inherent dignity of men and women, in the fact that democracy is our last, best hope for freedom; these are the values that have shaped this nation and made it great. We celebrate it today and we celebrate those who have fought and died to defend our freedom and way of life, including the brave men and women who place themselves in harm’s way everyday to see that we continue to enjoy our freedoms.

Years later, after a young America had prevailed in its fight for independence, a different group of delegates convened to create a Constitution for the new nation. The story is often told that upon the adoption of the Constitution, Ben Franklin was approached by a group of citizens who asked what kind of government the delegates had created. Franklin answered, “A republic, if you can keep it.” What we must recognize now more than ever is that the duty of keeping our republic falls on us as citizens and descendents of the Founding Generation. We must work to protect and preserve the principle of freedom and legacy of liberty that we have received as precious gifts. What in the heck does Congress think they are doing? this is unbelievable, our economy is going down for the count and Congress is going to fine gas station owners? There is no distinctly native American criminal class, Mark Twain observed – except Congress.

A century later, government power and intrusiveness have increased exponentially – and special interests have adapted by employing lobbyists who can navigate Washington, explain technology to tech challenged members and staffs, persuade legislators that provisions are vital (or disastrous), and give clients “a seat at the table” where subsidies, mandates, taxes, preferences and penalties are meted out.

The system is both the cause and result of far too many congressmen becoming members of what commentator Charles Krauthammer calls an “ambitious, arrogant, unscrupulous knowledge class” that has arrogated unto itself the right to rule American citizens.

Even legislators who don’t keep wads of thank-you cash in their freezers have committed misfeasance and malfeasance, by handling vital energy, environmental and economic matters in ways that would likely be prosecuted if done by businessmen. Lawmakers, eco-activists and companies routinely engage in social experimentation and central planning akin to previous Great Leaps Forward – and refuse to acknowledge the damage their actions inflict on workers, families, minorities and other businesses.

Today, in the name of protecting the environment, politicians have locked up enough oil, gas, coal and uranium to power the United States literally for centuries. Representatives of six of the nation’s eight biggest petroleum-guzzling states routinely vote to ban drilling off our coasts and in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. The Interior Department estimates that these lands could hold more than the proven oil reserves of Iran or Iraq: 139 billion barrels that could be obtained with today’s technology.

This energy belongs to all Americans. But politicians keep it off limits, and force us to consume oil that the rest of the world desperately needs. Food and fuel prices soar, poor families get pummeled, and we are compelled to send trillions of dollars to corrupt dictators, and give up jobs, tax revenues, royalties and security that developing US resources would generate.

Drilling bans also increase the risk of more spills from tankers carrying oil to replace what politicians have put off limits. In sixty years of offshore oil operations, only the 1969 Santa Barbara blowout resulted in significant oil reaching shore. Offshore oil platforms rarely pollute; they create magnificent artificial reefs. As a scuba diver, I’ve seen them firsthand, including the beauty where that blowout occurred.

So when Senator Maria Cantwell and colleagues oppose drilling – and then demand that President Bush tell OPEC countries to produce more oil – they are telling the world’s poorest people: Drop dead. We don’t care if you need oil and soaring prices are killing you. We refuse to do our part. We are consumers and importers, not producers. We will always put our eco-centric attitudes and our ties to green pressure groups ahead of your welfare.

When Congress doles out subsidies for ethanol, it converts tens of millions of acres of crop and habitat land into cornfields, diverts billions of gallons of water and fertilizer from food to energy, and sends fuel and food prices even higher.

When it silently endorses NRDC campaigns to stop petroleum leasing and drilling in western states – it shows it’s happy to eliminate more jobs and energy production in the face of soaring demand and prices, and turn those states into playgrounds for wealthy elites, unaffordable for average Americans.

However, for sheer economy-wrecking, nothing compares to climate change proposals like the 491-page Warner-Lieberman bill. The Senate rejected it last week, but more proposals will soon be introduced –even though 32,000 scientists have signed the consensus-busting Oregon Petition, saying they see “no convincing evidence” that human greenhouse gas emissions disrupt Earth’s climate.

Average global temperatures have not increased since 1998, even though atmospheric CO2 levels have risen by 3% a year. Moreover, notes meteorologist Anthony Watts, the 1.4 degree F decline in global temperatures since January 2007 offsets the total net warming during the twentieth century. And this temperature stabilization and downturn was completely missed by every computer model that alarmists use to conjure up apocalyptic climate scenarios.

All this means little to the “arrogant knowledge class.” Senators Clinton, Obama, Reid, Boxer, McCain and colleagues still insist that US carbon dioxide emissions be slashed by 71% – to levels last seen in 1937, during the Great Depression, when our population was one-third of today’s, and electricity use was in its infancy.

They would increasingly tax the 85% of our energy that is generated by fossil fuels. Gasoline could hit $6 or even $8 a gallon, and the cost of electricity and natural gas could more than double by 2030, according to the American Council on Capital Formation and other analysts. Moreover, sequestering all that plant-fertilizing CO2 would cost millions of additional megawatts and trillions of additional dollars in electricity.

The impact on services for poor, elderly, disabled and homebound people – and on airlines and
manufacturing – would be disastrous. In impoverished Third World countries, the effects would be catastrophic and lethal, as global warming pacts are translated into ever higher prices for food, and a permanent dearth of affordable electricity for economic growth, lights, refrigeration and sanitation.

Many people and lawmakers finally grasp the magnitude of these costs. But four-alarm politicians have the support of activists, banks, scientists and corporations who say the climate bills are landmark “green” legislation – as in $$$$ for research, complex cap-and-trade tax deals, government handouts, mandates and subsidies for unreliable renewable energy, and opportunities to gain advantages over competitors.

Notes the Wall Street Journal: the $3.3 TRILLION in cap-and-trade auction revenues that Senator Boxer “expects to scoop up” by 2050 under Warner-Lieberman were exceeded only by the trillions in “revenue handouts” she had already promised to its supporters.

Make no mistake. Warner-Lieberman and its kin have nothing to do with saving the planet. They are about the power to control – and curtail – the power we rely on: for homes, offices, hospitals, food, consumer products, transportation and modern living standards.

They are about who gets to decide: where our energy will come from … how much we will have … what it will cost … whether there will be enough to lift more families out of poverty … and who will be the winners and losers in a world of government-mandated energy scarcity. They are about creating a massive, regressive tax and regulatory scheme – to redistribute people’s incomes to constituencies that politicians judge are more likely to keep them in office.

It’s truly ironic. Fifty years ago, Democrats were defending the Jim Crow laws they had enacted to keep blacks from schools, lunch counters, buses and drinking fountains. Today, Democrats are leading the fight to impose what Congress of Racial Equality chairman Roy Innis aptly calls “Jim Crow energy policies” that block access to energy, drive up prices, and keep minorities from achieving economic civil rights.

Even more ironic, four decades ago, Republicans led by Senator Everett Dirksen wrote and enacted landmark civil rights bills. Today, a biracial Democratic presidential candidate and Senate Republicans like John Warner and John McCain are championing Jim Crow energy and climate policies that trample on economic opportunities and civil rights.

These policies are far more criminal than anything Mark Twain ever dreamed possible.

I am amazed at the stupidity of the American people. We have the freedom according to the Constitution to control what goes on in this country but we don't use that freedom. We allow the lying of the media to scare us into believing whatever they print. The truth is that the democrats are the cause of the high gas prices as well as the environmentalists. If you don't believe me check out their glee at the high prices of gas. Can we do something about the problem? Yes, of course we can. Vote out any democrats who have voted against using American oil to stop the high price. I keep hearing the phrase "Oh well the American people always arise to the occasion". That is just plain stupid. WE DON'T HAVE TO just be very vocal and say we will not vote in any person who won't allow us to drill for and use our own oil. Our taxes are sky high and the democrats say they are going to raise the taxes to the mother of all tax raises and the sheep like Americans are going to vote in more democrats so that even if we had a president who cared about the pain of the American people the checks and balances that are supposed to be in place so Congress can't take control of the country will not work.

Stop being stupid Americans look to our computers and check out the voting records of those you are planning to vote for. Do they not see our pain? They don't care, so in a free country like ours, which is supposed to be run by the people, we are able to stop them no matter which party is guilty of trying to destroy us.

I want some who are reading these posts to realize that Republicans are not mindless robots and that these discussions are not divisions but something called "thinking things through" which is something the other party should try to do.

I would like to point out a few things about the discussion of Bobby Erickson running against Jennifer Shilling. I have a copy of the Libertarian platform and as I read it I realize that there are some things I don't agree with but many more that I do. Right now the Republican party is running more on Liberal beliefs then they are Conservative beliefs, note our Liberal leaning candidate John McCain. What is the Republican Party doing? Most people I know feel that John McCain, while a great patriot, is not running on Conservative ideals. John McCain says he is a Republican, he is running on the Republican ticket so one must assume that he is a Republican. Or is he a Democrat running as a Republican? I have listened very carefully to his campaign speeches and I am sorry but he says exactly the same things as Obama and Hillary, except for the war, is he running as a Republican because he feels that is the only way he can win? I am a Conservative who finds value in much of the Libertarians viewpoints but I still vote Republican because that is what I am. I believe in the right of choice and if Shilling is running uncontested I have no choice. Win or lose I want someone to run against her and Bobby has agreed to do so and I will back him with the best of my talents and work to convince those I know to do the same. It is about time that we get on with backing a person who says he is a Republican and help him win this fight against Shilling. If I accept the arguments against Bobby running then I can not vote for McCain for the same reasons.

According to a National Post article the United States Senate is killing the American economy. How long will it take for the Congress to wise up? When it is too late obviously. The problem is with the bogus global warming hoax. The environmentalists are so intent on gaining the power to keep you from living in the twentieth century that they will destroy a country to do it. Attacking oil companies is not the way to do it either. All that is doing is wasting time and money. We can not afford to waste any more time and the solution to our economic problems are easy. High prices are caused by a demand for an item that there is not enough of so the people who have the item can ask what they want in prices. So the solution is to get more of the item and get it as cheaply and as quickly as possible. Not a hard problem at all so why is the Congress so dumb they can't come up with the same solution. All they can think of to do is to tax, tax, tax. The problem with taxing is that the government gets the taxes and does what it wants with the money and what it doesn't want to do is to give it back to the people they take it from.

I keep hearing people say they want change in our Federal Government. They want someone who is in touch with the American people. How can candidates who spend all their time in the star studded, fairy tail, rarified atmosphere of Washington possibly know what we the people really want and need. These people live on our taxes getting filthy rich or filthy richer year after year after year. How can that drunken sot Ted Kennedy possibly know what I want or need? He has no idea what it is like to be subject to the laws of this land, to have to struggle just to eat or put in a little insulation in our homes. That to go out to the movies takes almost a full days wage. He doesn’t care that our dream vacation of a camping trip with our children is now out of the question because of the high price of gas. He doesn’t care because we pay for his vacations, we pay for not only his gas but also his Lincoln Continental or his chauffer driven stretch limo. We pay for his dinner parties we pay for his plane rides; we pay for the clothes on his back. So while he parties, gets drunk and kills his girlfriend (yes we even paid for that) we struggle trying to make ends meet. The same goes for Obama, Hillery and John we pay for everything so why do they care if the bogus global warming takes food off our tables, the unnecessary high gas and heating bills sap every penny we make. They have no idea and they don’t care. We will foot the bills for the bogus global warming which will eventually reach into the trillion-dollar mark keeping us from being able to buy a dress for our daughters to go to the prom or to send them to collage. Do you think they care about that? Nope as long as they get paid their two hundred thousand dollars a year, as long as their retirement funds are separate from ours, they can get their medical free for the rest of their lives and hundreds of thousands of other benefits why would they care.

Do you care? Do you ever consider why these politicians promise us the moon but give us nothing but tax increases? Why after years and years do the same men and women in the same offices keep getting elected and yet they produce nothing but higher and higher taxes for us while they get all the good things for themselves? Are we the American public really that stupid? We get screwed time after time with the same promises and no results. Now the same democrats who promised change if they were put in charge of Congress are promising us the same things again. That was two years ago and what has changed? My taxes are so high I might lose my home, gas prices are two and a half dollars higher then they were when they took over, I might have to give up my life saving medicine because I can’t afford the price because Congress is taking almost every penny I make, what in the heck has changed? They lied then and they are lying now.

But I know a secret. There is a non-political man running for the office that the flip-flopping, go with the flow Ron Kind now holds. I have talked with him in a limited way and I have read all I could find on him and boy does he sound good. His policies are practical and tax reducing. I haven’t talked with him enough to hear him flesh out his plan for achieving his goals but I will and at least he is not a career politician. He hasn’t as of yet received a penny from our taxes, and I hope he keeps it that way, and special interest groups haven’t polluted him. Who is he? His name is Paul Stark and you can read more info on him on his web page “Paul Stark for Congress”. You can also read a letter he wrote, after Ron Kind danced around the questions he was asked at Eau Clair, on this website. Look for it and read it for yourself to see how he stands on issues.

I know this is a long letter but I needed to say these things and I hope you will think about them and check out “Paul Stark for Congress” he can’t help but do a better job then all those career politicians now in Congress.

Mother Nature's cure for Global Warming

I just heard that scientists, trying to explain the fact that all their climate forecasts are not happening, admit that the earths mean temperature has not risen, in fact has been falling since 1998 or 1999. They try to explain away the evidence that for the next decade we may be getting cooler by saying this is mother natures way of trying to deal with global warming and that she will loose the fight in about ten years or so. Well if that is true maybe that is why there have been so many catastrophic disasters lately. It is Mother Nature’s way of dealing with those pesky humans who are destroying her beloved earth. She is killing off hundreds of thousands of men, women and children not to mention thousands of animals that pass the wrong type of gas.

Or maybe it is the anti-human, anti-American environmentalists who are causing the cyclones, hurricanes, tornados and earthquakes that are killing hundreds of thousands of people. The environmentalist must be shouting for joy right now. All those humans dying in the last few days will leave more room for the grass and trees. You think that sounds over the top, that it is mean and nasty? Well I have a newsflash for you this is what they have said about President Bush. They blame him for the floods, hurricanes and tornadoes that have happened in the last few years. I even heard that they blame him for the death of the dinosaurs. Ridicules? Of course it is but so are the global warming claims.

I live near the airport on French Island. As I was waiting for my puppy to finish his business I heard a helicopter. I went to watch it go by and I noticed that it was an army helicopter. As I watched it go by I got chills, I was so proud, those were my people in that helicopter. Tears came to my eyes and I felt so safe. I knew that when I need to be protected those men and women are there to stand in front of me and protect me even to giving up their lives. Stop Whining about the Price of Gas

I would like to know why the Wisconsin people are whining about the cost of gas. Gas and oil are priced this high because we cannot drill for our own oil. We cannot build our refineries to make the oil into gas, which causes a shortage, which as anyone with a brain knows causes supply and demand problems of which the oil companies take advantage and what a free country is all about. So to make a long story shorter the idiots in Wisconsin put in POWER the three Democrats who always vote down new refineries and drilling for our own oil. We have enough oil to last the U.S. about four hundred years in which time we will be able to find an alternative fuel so let’s do what we have to until that time.

I read an article in the La Crosse Tribune by some mindless jerk who was glad that people don’t have enough money to pay for gas and he hopes the cost will go up to seven dollars a gallon. He revels in the fact that people don’t have enough money for food and housing because even if we do find a new form of fuel it will take fifty to a hundred years to do so and many homes will be lost and many people will starve while we are searching. This is the Democrats for you, glad of starving people while lying through their teeth about caring for people. This guy is a good example of a Democrat.

So stop whining Wisconsin, you asked for change and you got it. Now enjoy walking or biking to work because that is the way it is.

This morning on La Crosse Talk Radio I heard Ron Kind blame the Bush Administration for the tanking of the economy. I can’t believe I heard that. The reason the economy is tanking is because the Democrats took over Congress and they cater to the environmentalist’s insistence on biofuels and the global warming hoax. These two programs are costing trillions of dollars and forcing both food and gas to go through the roof. The people of American wanted change and this is what they got. Under the Bush economy I was getting more money in my paycheck and the gas prices though high did not take a dollar a week leap until Democrats took over Congress.

How can people like Ron Kind make stupid statements like he did this morning? Are people brain dead so they can’t see the truth? I listened with incredulity to Mr. Kind’s statement blaming the Bush Administration for the high price of gas and the food shortage, which everyone who has a brain knows would happen because we can’t drill our own oil, we can’t build more refineries and alternative fuels will not be available for maybe fifty years. Catering to the environmentalists is the reason for these problems. Get real people you asked for change you got it.

We need to get people like Ron Kind out of office and if the people of Wisconsin want real change look up “Paul Stark for Congress” on his web page. He is not a professional politician just a man like you and I who wants to do what is right for the people not a professional politician like Ron Kind who just wants a paycheck and all the bennies that go along with being a professional politician.

I just had a brilliant idea. Have you heard of the phrase “America needs change”? Well as Obama, Hillory and McCain are all Senators what is going to change? Nothing! It will be the same as before each party trying to ensure its power and each of our representatives trying to reinsure their seats so they can continue gaining power and money. So what is the true change? Fire them all and find absolutely new representatives. And how about making term limits for all governmental seats, it will be almost impossible to legislate term limits now but Constitutionally we can do it if we all get together and make it so. Now this would be real change. Washington is broken! It no longer does the will of the people it does what it does to reinsure their jobs. Let’s look for new people and then stand beside them, work to see they are elected and force our legislators to follow the Constitution as it was written. We don’t have much time left to do this. Every year the Government takes away more and more of our personal freedoms from us. We are right now on the cusp of socialism is that truly what this country wants? Every day we trade our freedoms for governmental handouts. Let’s wake up before it is to late. I have found a non-political person I want to endorse and work for, someone who has given me true hope for change how about you? Do you have hope that politics can get better? If not, find someone who can renew that hope in you, it is the most wonderful feeling I have had in quite a few years.

Misleading Titles

The title “Don’t subsidize low-income people” in the Sunday 9/20/07 Tribune referring to “A surprise in your Electric Bill” written 8/28/07 is very misleading. Most working people do not mind helping the truly needy. People who are needy do not smoke, use drugs or alcohol, go to movies, have telephones, cars, microwaves, dishwashers, T.V.’s, cell phones, computers etc. Helping the needy means to help with food, clothing and a place to live. If people truly need help I don't mind helping them but I don't owe them anything. If you want the lifestyle I have you have to work for it just like I do. If you can afford cars, telephones, cell phones, computers, alcohol and/or drugs you can buy your food, clothing and a place to live first. If you are subsidized by my tax dollars with food, clothing and a place to live you sure won't have to work very hard to get the rest.

However the 9/20/07 article is very telling! Working class Americans are tired of being forced by Congress to support 75% of America’s population. Take Social Security taxes for example. Social Security taxes were meant to subsidize workers after they retire. It was never intended to aid illegal aliens and others who have never paid a dime into the system. Due to Congressional mismanagement the last 60 years the system is broke.

Working people are tired of paying taxes that keep them struggling to pay their bills while their tax money gives non-workers the same benefits that they have to work for.

However, the two articles said nothing about not helping the truly needy as the title suggests. What the authors are saying is that gas companies collecting money that is supposed to help people who have trouble paying their gas and electric bills without peoples permission is illegal. The collected fund should cover all people who have temporary problems paying their electric bills as was at first intended not go to low-income families only. Also working people would like to know exactly, with proof to back it up, how that money is being spent. As a temporary help it should mean a once or twice payment not an entire heating season.

Independence Day Message

I hope you will be able to exercise your freedom this week during Independence Day and that you take time to think about the enormous sacrifice and courage that is required to secure that freedom for all of us.

It is during this time of year when my thoughts drift toward political philosophy as I ponder the meaning of this amazing holiday. I earned my college degree in history with an emphasis on European history so I often compare and contrast European philosophies of government with our American beliefs. It is always fascinating to me that after thousands of years of history the Europeans still do not get it. Their philosophy of government continues to be based on humanistic principles. This is a belief that elevates humanity to the status of god and denies the truth that the true God is ultimately in control of our lives. You can catch hints of this philosophy when people say things like, "The only reason communism hasn't worked is because the right people haven't tried it." Or the philosophy of taxation suggesting that people are too stupid to know how to manage their own money properly so an overbearing government must be allowed to take it and distribute it "for the common good" as Hillary Clinton once told supporters.

This is the type of liberal elitism that so many pundits speak about. It is offensive to the American Spirit that was born in 1776 and it is dangerous. Our Founding Fathers got it exactly right in the Declaration of Independence when they wrote, "endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights" and "appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions" and "with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor."

The men who started our nation by writing that document put aside their human arrogance and acknowledged that Almighty God is the true power and that they, as men born of this Earth, were merely a conduit for accomplishing His will. When you truly understand that simple belief it is one of the most liberating ideas ever known. It is this philosophy of government that has been the most successful in the history of man because it does not rely on man for its success. Our nation is great because it was founded by men who, as George W. Bush puts it, "understand that freedom is not America's gift to the world; freedom is the Almighty God's gift to each man and woman in this world."

President George W. Bush gets it. He, like our Founding Fathers, is a humble man who knows that our Father in Heaven holds the real power. With that understanding and the religious morality that he maintains as a Christian, he is able to lead this nation down a path guided by a light from above. His firm belief in this philosophy has led to the liberation of millions in Afghanistan and Iraq.

President Ronald Reagan was another great advocate of these truths. He once said, "I have long believed that the guiding hand of Providence did not create this new nation of America for ourselves alone, but for a higher cause: the preservation and extension of the sacred fire of human liberty. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States are covenants we have made not only with ourselves, but with all of mankind. Our founding documents proclaim to the world that freedom is not the sole prerogative of a chosen few, they are the universal right of all God's children." His firm belief in this philosophy led to the liberation of millions in the former Soviet Union.

Some will call these ideas extreme. Some liberals have told me that these beliefs resemble those of the Taliban. They couldn't be more wrong. These ideas are ones of liberation that free our minds instead of shackling them. I consider these ideas the simple truth. Our greatest American President, George Washington, expressed these truths when he stated in his farewell address to the nation, "Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, Religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. The mere politician, equally with the pious man ought to respect & to cherish them. Let it simply be asked where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths which are the instruments of investigation of courts of justice? And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason & experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle."

Many of us take an opportunity to reflect on what Patriotism means to us during this holiday. While some define it as love of country I like to take it a step further by suggesting that true patriotism is love of country above one's self. A true Patriot, in my opinion, will put aside his or her own welfare in support of their country. There are many ways to do this. Some sacrifice their own comfort and even their lives by courageously wearing the uniform of our military and traveling abroad to defend our nation from foreign enemies. Some put on a suit and take part in the process of drafting legislation as an elected official often working long hours away from friends and family. Some sacrifice their free time by writing letters to spread the message of the American Spirit. Still others will volunteer their time to make phone calls or go door-to-door to help elect candidates who they believe in or to donate their time in some other community activity. Some will do all of these things throughout their lives. All are Patriots who love their country so much that they are willing to sacrifice their personal pleasures and even their lives for their nation. Those of us who are parents find it easy to understand this concept because that's how we feel about our children. We will pay any price and sacrifice any personal reward to ensure the health and happiness of our children. A Patriot has that same love and willingness to sacrifice on behalf of our country.

Please keep the above thoughts in mind as you celebrate your freedom. We must, for ourselves and for all future Americans, never forget what makes this nation great and how it was born. The philosophies that fuel the American Spirit must be spread throughout the world and taught to all generations so that many more will be able to join us in the celebration of freedom.

In closing, I'd like to share a prayer for our nation that I received from a friend:

You have commanded that those of us who comprise your people - the church of the firstborn, the Lord Jesus Christ, in whom is found all authority in heaven and earth - to pray for all those in positions of divinely appointed authority. Your desire is that we live peaceful, quiet lives, in godliness and holiness. We pray this weekend for our nation. May we seek righteousness and justice. May we resist evil wherever it is found, and seek goodness in all our endeavors. We pray for our nation's leaders. May they be men and women of honor and truth. Endow them with compassion and mercy. We pray for the men and women of our Armed Forces who guard our nation and secure the freedoms of other peoples. May they be filled with courage, and be encouraged by our support and prayers. We pray also for their families; may they be surrounded by peace.

We lift our eyes and hearts towards heaven, where you Lord God dwell in unapproachable light, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of Lords, you alone are immortal. To you alone be honor and might and glory and power forever. We pray all this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, by whom all things in heaven and on earth were created. AMEN
